Detailed Guide
Join a town!
If you have not done so already the bigger towns should be a lot better for you.

Use all your Mana every day!
Mana is the most important attribute, as it is defines how many actions you can take per day. Once you have used all your Mana, your character is exhausted and will only be able to take actions again the next day!

What is PvP?
PvP stands for Player versus Player combat and happens when one player attacks another player.
The winning player gains experience and sometimes steals one or more gems, the loser gets to die.
In player combat, PvP Mana is used first. This is extra Mana that you can use every day.
Players start out with 5 PvP Mana, and this is the minimum. you can increase your PvP Mana to a maximum of 50.

Expanding PvP Mana FAST!
you should try raise PvP Mana, can gain you a lot of experience at lower levels, also a good amount of gems.

2 kills within 60% of your level = level limit = +0.2 PvP Mana
1 death = -0.2 PvP Mana.

You will need to use your regular Mana along with your PvP Mana at the first to start gaining decent amounts.

But once you get up to about 10 PvP Mana you can rely on that alone to keep raising it up to a maximum of 50.

Which can mean a good 40000-10000 exp a day from PvP and also anywhere from 30-100 gems depending on your level.

The best times to PvP are 0:00 4:00 (after wars ) 6:00 12:00 18:00 at Marcoland time. This is when people are revived for reset and to fight in wars.

Keeping the Blacklist
Add the easy kills to your Blacklist. You can add a player by checking their profile and clicking the link Add to Blacklist and adding a description.
On your Blacklist you can check your targets name, level and status (alive or dead).
There is also a handy [Fight] link. Note also that the list can be sorted by clicking the column headings.

Increase your Maximum Mana as much as possible!
Mana is the most important attribute

There are two ways to increase your Maximum Mana:
Levelling Up (+1 Maximum Mana);
Tall Tree of Mana having the gems finding skill will make this much easier.

Voting
Big sign in the city to the right saying VOTE HERE! You can vote to win around 500-1000 gold everyday and a chance of mp reload quite rare
Or if you are really lucky a valuable Mana reload!

Getting rich fast
Buy 30 Metals at Town Metals Store Costing 2700 gold that’s 90 per metal
Next is to SELL those 30 Metals at Marketplace at 300 each maximum price they will sell very fast, you will turn 2,700 Gold into 9,000!
Now go to the Gems Store and buy the 30 Gems for 2700 Gold, sell these for 1 GC lower than the current price and you should make even more cash.

Learning the Gems Finding Skill
you should have about 20,000 gold before you buy it because you need enough gold left over to keep buying 30 daily gems and metals.
it will use 5 Mana and find hardly any gems at the start, but it will keep rising as you use it, become very very profitable after a few weeks.

Levelling Up, Fighting!
Fighting is a good way to earn Gold/Metals/Gems and level up.
Each fight attempt costs you Mana. Before you attempt to fight your first opponent, improve your attributes first.
Pray at the temple of tiipsi in the city until you are 2,000 STR at least then you can equip a wool gloves and a knife which you request from your town.
click my town on the left navigation bar and click the armoury, scroll down to the drop down boxes and request those items.
once someone in the town has given you those items you can equip them in the “My equipment link on the navigation bar. Now you are ready to fight.
Click the "Fighting" link, then "Training Beach", then "Goblin". Keep killing it for experience, Gold, Gems and Metals. until you run dry of Mana! Then use your PvP Mana on some players too.

Conclusion
From now on, this will be your routine:
1). ENTER Marcoland everyday!
2). USE your skill (if you have it)!
3). BUY 30 Gems and 30 Metals from store, resell for extra Gold!
4). USE all your Mana praying or fighting!
5). BUY Mana at Tall Tree of Mana everyday you succeed on collecting 100 Gems!
6). REQUEST upgraded Weapons or Armour at the armoury or Forums in your town as your Strength increases!

Town equipment
keep requesting the best equipment for your strength.

Effective training
For effective training, set your Mana used in training to 5 and set auto heal on. Go to My Home and click the miscellaneous tab. There, click vital details.
Here you can set the amount of Mana used in training to 5, so you will have to heal once every 5 Mana, saving you money. If you set auto heal to before (on the same page), you will automatically heal before the next combat, allowing you to train more quickly.

Vacation mode
you can set this mode at My Home – miscellaneous and scroll down and enter number of days you want to go on vacation for, you will get 1 Mana reload for every day you are in vacation mode but you will miss out on skills and daily gems etc.

Level
Your level starts at 1 and increases every time you earn enough experience.

Strength
Of the attributes Strength, Speed and Intelligence, Strength is the most important
Strength = Encumbrance = how much armour you can wear also how strong a weapon you can wield.
Strength increases the amount of damage you do in combat.
our strength starts at 1 and increases by 1 point for every level you gain, You can increase strength by praying at the Temple of Tiipsi in The city. For 5 Mana per prayer you can gain a little a lot or lose some strength, but overall you will be gaining a lot more than you could ever lose.

Speed
Speed determines how many times you will hit your opponent compared to you, also it will lower your damage if it does not equal your used encumbrance
BUT DO NOT WORRY! Keep using strength while you lose some damage for having low speed, more strength will mean you have more protection making you harder to hit also more strength is more damage and a stronger weapon.

Intelligence
Intelligence is the basis for casting spells.
You can find spells in the Spell Shop in The city.
In combat you can deal Critical Hits based on your intelligence.
The odds of a critical hit are increased for you if you have more intelligence than your opponent.
Intelligence is increased by 1 point for every level you gain, and it can be prayed for in the Temple of Tiipsi in The city.

Hit points
Your hit points determine how much damage you can take before you die.
When you have 0 HP you are dead. When dead, you can still perform certain actions, like praying at the temple, using your skills or buying stuff in the city.
Your hit points increase every level. The number of hit points that you gain each level also increases, following the formula: HP=(2*your level^2 + (3*your level)). So a level 5 character has 65 Hit points, a level 10 has 230 and a level 15 has already got 495! And by level 70 player has 10070 hp so level is very important.

Magic Points
Magic Points are like spell points that are used when you perform magic. This can be casting a spell, Magic points are not relevant in the beginning of the game but when your character evolves you will start using it. Every player gets twice his level in magic points. You can also buy one extra magic point per day in the Monk's Alley in The city.

Metals
Most lower level players have no use for metals, and it is best NOT to keep any metals in stock, since they might be stolen when someone attacks you using a Summoned creature.
Sell your metals at the metals market for 300 gold a piece. Click The city, market then metals market to sell metals.

Gems
Gems are most important for lower level players.
100 gems are used to increase your Mana at the Tall Tree of Mana in The city.

Forging
With the forging skill, weapons and armour can be made. It is a very expensive skill and hard to master. To get the skill you need to pay 150.000 gold. To master it, you have to forge every single piece of weapon and armour that is available in the city shops.
This will take over 100 days to complete, and a huge amount of resources.
Once a player becomes a master forger, he can upgrade weapons and armour, or make entirely new ones.

Adepts
To make any piece of weapon or armour that is worthwhile (i.e. better than in the shops), a lot of metals and gold is needed, and in addition, the master forger needs to find young players (level 1 or level 10) that are willing to become his adept.
f a master forger finds enough adepts to complete their mission, and when he has enough resources to pay for the new item, he can actually forge it.

How do You an Adept help?
You help simply by levelling. An adept completes his mission if he goes from level 1 to level 10, or from level 10 to level 20. Adepts who finish at level 10, can re-enlist with the same master or choose another one.

What to do?
It is of importance to me that you finish the course you signed up for. Even if you find you do not like the game,
please try to reach at least level 10 before giving up on me. It will be greatly appreciated.

What's in it for the adept?
I can be short: Nothing material. It is not that I don't WANT to reward you. It is simply not allowed to transfer anything of value to other players, and many a master has been jailed breaking this rule.
However, this does not mean you get nothing at all. You get all the help and information you need. You can ALWAYS ask me anything.

Hey, can I be a master forger too?
Of course but you will need to be at least level 50 and earning something like 200,000 gold everyday or this will make your character a lot worse.

Searching for targets
There are several ways to find targets. The most common one, is to use the built-in opponent search. Click Fighting, then click search an opponent and type in the level requirements. The minimum level is filled in default with your level limit, so don't change that one. Some hints for good targets:
players without town.
players with higher ID than you.

Immunity
This is a spell you can learn at 5 intelligence which should be at level 5 for you, this will allow you to fight on the beach and use skills etc without being killed for 10 minutes, but if you attack another player immunity will go and you can be attacked.

What is the dungeon?
The dungeon of Marcoland is an underground set of hallways and mazes where monsters lurk and treasures may be found.
You need 1 Mana to enter the dungeon. Click Fighting and then Explore the dungeon, or find the same dungeon at The city and then Dungeon.
You can use arrows to navigate yourself through the dungeon, and you will automatically have a map of the part you have explored.

Should I enter the dungeon?
Basically no you cannot heal in the dungeon and you will not last very long if you cannot heal you are better off sticking to the beach until you are level 40 or 50.

What treasures can be found?
Every time you enter a square in the dungeon, there is a chance of finding some random stuff. You cannot find something where you have already explored.
Here's what you can find:
Mana reloads (very rare)
MP reloads (very rare)
Gold (rare)
Gems (rare)
Metals (rare)
Healing potions (rare)
Teleports (rare) (teleports to any place in the dungeon you already visited)

What about monsters?
Every time you enter a square, you can find a creature. When you find a creature, a battle takes place.
This is the same battle as would happen on the training beach, and each battle will cost you 1 Mana.
The dungeon, another place.
When you are in the dungeon, you can not be attacked by other players.
You have all the time in the world to explore without being interrupted by others.

Checkpoints
You can set a checkpoint in the dungeon for 100 metals, which you can recall to.
It will cost you some Magic Points to recall. The cost in Magic Points is dependant on the distance from the entrance you are recalling to.
The checkpoint can be used multiple times if you have enough Magic Points. This means you can teleport into the right area for you (with the right monsters) when you enter the dungeon.

The Grand Prize
Every time the dungeon is made anew, and in one particular square, the grand prize is placed. The player who first enters the square will be the winner of the dungeon, and when he does, the dungeon will be reset. The prize varies, last time it was a whole bunch of metals, gems and gold.

Jail
Jail is where people go who cheat or break the rules. The rules are enforced by the Administrators, especially the sheriff.
A character in jail will remain there for a number of days, dependant on the crime, and can not take his turns for that amount of days. It is not a nice place to be, so try sticking with the rules below.

No multiple characters
It is not allowed to have multiple characters in this game. If you do have another character, terminate the account or face the consequences.
The punishment for multiple accounts (called multi's) is usually the deletion of the youngest account and the locking up in jail of the older account.

No funds transfer
You can not transfer money to other players in the game in any way. You can not buy stuff at extremely high price from someone to get them more money than they would usually make, or buy at extremely low prices. This is called transferring and is not allowed at all.

No offensive names
Don't take on an offensive name or imitate someone's name. Don't be offensive in general.

No scripting
You can't script anything and may not use any automatic programs to do your stuff.

No spamming/flooding
Don't spam other people or the forum boards or flood the chat.

No other stuff
If you are not sure if something is against the rules or not, ask the sheriff. If you don't feel like asking the sheriff, ask me. I will advise you on your course of action.

Buy a creature?
they can be very costly to heal with metals and train them up to high levels I have survived perfectly well without one but if you really want one get saving metals and gold.

What's a creature?
A creature is your own trained killing pet. You can use a creature to fight other creatures for fun and xp. Once you get Summoning spells, you can even let your creature fight other players for fun, xp and metals. A Creature gains experience points and levels and you can assign points to its attack and its hit points every time it gains a level. Creatures can (obviously) die in battle and require metals to heal.

When to buy a creature?
Creatures cost a lot of money and metals. The higher your level the more a creature costs, and the more money you have, the more a creature will cost you. Once you get to level 10, a creature not only costs you gold and metals but also 1 quarz. Quarzes are rare crystals that are very hard to obtain and cost a lot of money (more than a million gold). So therefore:

Creature stats
Once you have bought a creature, there will be a new link in the My Home page, under MISCELLANEOUS. You can divide a number of points to boost your creature. You can choose to spend points on bite attack, kick attack and punch attack, or you can choose to raise the creatures Hit points. In each attack type, the creature has a min and a max damage done. Try to keep min attack value equal to max attack value, it is the best way to go if you want to start Summoning your creature into PvP battles later on. I would invest into all attack forms equally, but it is really up to you to decide.

Creature vs. Creature
The first few creature levels can be gained by fighting other creatures. Challenge some creatures to get some xp. The higher level creatures you challenge, the more xp you will gain, even if you lose. One trick that some people do is to fight each others creatures using only punch attacks and punch defends, that way all attacks will be blocked (no damage to the creatures) and still xp is obtained. You will find after a couple of levels it's too hard gaining xp for your creature with just fighting other creatures. You will need to get Summon spells to take it further.

Summoning
You need at least 100 intelligence and 100 Magic Points to cast any Summoning spell. Find the spells in the Spell Shop in The city. When you cast a summon spell, your creature will be summoned into PvP battle. Depending on the level of the summon spell, the creatures stats will be multiplied. Summoning I multiplies a creatures Hit points by 10 and all its attacks by 10 too. All attacks are added together to calculate the min and max damage your creature does. A creature always attacks first in PvP battle and its attack ignores armour. If your creature succeeds in killing your opponent, you will gain metals from your opponent equal to your creatures Hit points, or less if your opponent has fewer metals. This is basically what Summoning is, a way to make money by ripping metals from unsuspecting victims.
In my opinion, Summoning should always be safe, in other words, its best if you can kill your opponent in a single blow guaranteed. To achieve this, make sure your min and max damage are always equal. Now calculate the damage you do with a single blow (Attacks*Summon level*10). Fight only characters with less hit points than you do in one blow, and you will find that everyone you fight this way will go down without a problem.

Example:

Creature hitpoints:20

Min bite:7
Min punch:7
Min kick:8

Max bite:7
Max punch:7
Max kick:8

Min combined attack:22
Max combined attack:22

Therefore in a battle with Summon I you will have:
Hp:200
Min attack:220
Max attack:220

Overall
So you can kill level 9 players who have 189 hit points, and since your creature’s base hp is 20 you can steal 20 metals if they have it. If they have less then 20 you get whatever number they have. If they have no metals then you get no metals. You can not attack a player below your creature’s level.

Where can you customize the look and feel of the game?
There are several ways to change the way you interact with the game. You can make a list of buddies to see if they are online, have a blacklist for PvP or generally annoying people, change the colours of the page, and add user links for quick access.

Buddy list
Clicking Buddy list accesses your buddy list. You can add buddies by typing their ID or name. You can also add characters from their character info screen.
Having a buddy list is handy, because you can immediately see who of your friends is online, and can send those messages knowing that they will reply quickly.
You can add a description to every buddy, so when your buddy changes his name, you will still know who he is.
It is useful to have important town people on your buddy list, like armourers or the town president/vice president.

Blacklist
When you click on Blacklist in the menu you access the blacklist. The working of the blacklist is similar to that of the buddy list, except this list has other info on it.
You can see who of your enemies is alive, and the list can be sorted by id, level and status.
You can directly start a battle with players on your blacklist. Very useful for PvP, and I suggest using it if you intend to do a lot of PvP.
Try to get as many targets on your list as possible, the more you have the better use you will make of your PvP Mana.

Changing colours
Not really a help, but if you want to change the colour of the pages of Marcoland, go to My Home and click Miscellaneous. There, click vital detail. Here, you can change the value of the layout (at Select your layout colour).
You can also change the way numbers are represented in the box below that, called Numbers Format:

User links
Every page you visit can be added to your favourite links, to revisit again quickly. When on a favourite page, click Add to favourite Links. You will get a page where all your links are listed, and the newly added page will look like this:
N/A [ Delete ] [ Edit ]
You can now click Edit and type a name for the link (N/A will change into your chosen name). Your new link will appear in every screen at the right side (under user links, above the Vote here! link).
Note that you can even make links to pages with post data in them, like a link that buys your 30 gems at the gems store. Just buy 30 gems like every day, and when you are on the page telling you that you have bought 30 gems, select Add to favourite Links. You can now buy 30 gems every day with just a single click!
Having all your daily tasks in one list helps you to remember them. I have links for buying gems, metals, Mana, magic points, using skills, accessing the markets etc. etc. I have not forgotten anything since I made those, and play much quicker.

What are good stats for my level?
LOADS of strength
no speed and intelligence = 1/6th of strength.

Stat caps
Stat caps are thresholds after which praying will become less effective.
The Stat caps are at 1100, 1300 and 1500 total combined stats (str+spd+int). The first stat cap is not so bad, you can survive that, but you must avoid hitting the second cap with less than 800 strength.
Try to have 1000 strength at the third cap at least! Having the best weapon (Apocalyptica) is very important, so get it soon, and don’t worry about speed

Training without speed
Try to get to 1000 strength as quick as you can. I suggest hitting 1000 strength at around level 50-60.
Once you do, pray a little more until you have the strength for full astral armour set (1135).

Then, you can start praying for speed too, while you level a bit more. When you have a full astral set, you can likely beat Kaolor the Conqueror, because he will miss most of the time max of around 180 damage, but his criticals will still hit you for around 1300 dmg!!! which is huge and will kill you unless you have high hp or good intelligence to stop this...but you will need around 250 which is hard to get with the caps and good str. so maybe weapon X who can never hit you, only with criticals is a good choice.

Best of Marcoland
A great way to test your battle prowess is Best of Marcoland. Find it in The city menu. It's basically an ongoing PvP competition.
The good part is that you don't spend Mana when you fight there, and you don't have to be alive. There are two categories, best per level and best 500 overall.
When you get enough stats and level on you, try it out sometimes, and check where you stand in PvP land.

ML Rankings
If you want to check how well you are doing, go to The city and check the council building.
There you can look at the ML Rankings. There are 3 types of ranking, 1 for towns and 2 for players.
For players there's an overall ranking, and an adjusted ranking. The overall ranking may not be so thrilling to you, but note that in the adjusted ranking, it's not the older players that rule the charts, but the younger ones.
Look up your own char to see how well you're doing.
There are also options without protection because some of the older players have a lot of armour forged and are not so good without their armour.

Number Game
In The city, there is a Fun Zone. There, you will find the Number Game, Just click to add a new number for your level*10 gold.
Reaching special numbers earns pretty big prizes, but you can't play by yourself.
Another person needs to raise the number before you can raise it again. Sometimes towns organize special number game raids, so check the forums to see what's going down with the number game.

Chat
The best way to learn is to sit in chat a lot.
Questions are asked easily and answers come quick. I learned a lot from chatting with other players and gained a lot of Marcoland friends.
It's useful to have good connections, especially when you need someone to help you out. Check the chat sometimes, you may find it entertaining.

Slashathon
Every now and then there is a Slashathon.
This is a one hour continuous Arena frenzy, Make sure to be online during this event, and enlist every 20 minutes to a new round of Arena combat.
Fabulous prizes can be won, so it's worth showing up. Check The General Forums for more information, and watch the messages from Death ID 1884, he's the Slashathon boss.
prizes differ every time and can vary from magic point reloads to 5 strength or speed or intelligence or a very valuable Mana reload.
